Understanding How The Six Meals A Day Diet Works

Filed under: Six Meals A Day Diet Articles

In it’s simplest form the six meals a day diet does two things:

1) It cuts your daily intake of food into more, small meals so reducing energy slumps, maxing out your body with calories and laying the excess down as fat.

2) It cuts out the “rubbish” food and replaces it with healthy, supporting food that makes you look and feel much better.

However it’s worth saying that while the six meals a day diet works very well indeed - and is based on tried-and-tested scientific fact rather than some hocus pocus you’ll derive far better, faster results by incorporating some exercise into your daily regime.

Yes, before you throw up your hands in frustration, it does work without but you’ll get the results you’re after far quicker *with* exercise.

And that doesn’t mean you need to spend hours at the gym each day. Just 20-30 minutes of vigorous aerobic exercise done 2-3 times a week is all you’ll need to super-charge your body for weight loss.

If you’re a gym member already then great. If you’re not, or you don’t want to be, you can get all the exercise you need without paying expensive gym fees or having to go to all the trouble of visiting the gym.

How?

How about cycling, jogging, kick boxing, racket ball or any of the range of activities that make you work up a sweat and increase your heart rate.

Even mowing the lawn or vacuuming the house can count.

Or just lots and lots of sex. And with the body you’re going to end up with - trust me - there’ll be plenty available to you!

The six meals you have each day are evenly and equally spaced over the course of a typical day - in which case every 2-3 hours you’re consuming a meal - totaling 12-18 waking hours per day.

Each meal is a combination of lean protein and slow release carbohydrates with plenty of water, fresh fruit and vegetables thrown in to make a healthy, balanced diet.

By both not overloading your body with calories then starving it at other times but instead providing a reasonably constant and carefully monitored supply of nutrients to the body you are far less likely to put down fat as your body will need all the energy from each meal to function properly.

In addition, the extra energy required to actually digest these meals can be taken from existing fat reserves so helping you burn off excess calories and so losing weight.

Lastly the six meals a day diet naturally boosts your metabolism causing it to burn more calories on average than before so you’ll actually be able to lose weight by eating as much or even more than before.

And even sitting still at a desk or in front of the TV can result in you burning more fat than before so even if you have a reasonably sedentary life - such as working in an office in front of a computer all day - you’ll still be able to derive some very real benefits from this proven, common-sense diet.

If you needed any other reasons to try the six meals a day diet (how many reasons do you need for goodness sake?!) here’s one more for you…

By not repeatedly flooding your body with calories then starving it as can happen with just 3 meals a day your body will have to work less hard to control blood sugar levels with insulin.

Diabetes has been shown to be far more likely in overweight individuals and this high/low insulin requirement has been suggested as a very real cause for the onset of diabetes.

So you’ll substantially lessen your chances of developing a terrible disease that at it’s worst can cause blindness or loss of limbs and at it’s best can be a right royal pain in the butt!
