Tasty Low Fat Recipes For The Six Small Meals A Day Diet
Creating low fat recipes isn’t difficult using our base foods. In this section of the site I’d like to spend a few moments highlighting a few tasty recipes that may be of use to you with the six small meals a day diet.
Whether you use them “as is” or opt to simply use them as inspiration to create your own is entirely up to you.
Also please note the links provided on this page to other sources of information on low fat recipes that may prove to be of use and interest to you.
Please note before we mention the recipes that my own personal preference is for ultra quick and simple meals. I don’t have the time or the inclination to spend an hour preparing a meal to spend just 10 minutes eating it.
Also while I want to eat something “nice” I definitely don’t consider myself a “foody” and don’t have very refined tastes so you may want to make these otherwise simple recipes a little more involved.
It’s fine if you do - just remember not to add too much to your base ingredients that can turn a healthy meal into an unhealthy one.
And remember that you should also consider methods of cooking - steaming, gentle boiling and grilling should be chosen over roasting or frying if you have a choice.
Low Fat Recipe #1 - Crab Jacket Potato
Bake a jacket potato the size of your fist in the microwave while preparing the filling.
Mix chopped peppers, lettuce and fat-free salad dressing together with some cooked crab meat.
Cut open the jacket potato and cover in the topping.
Low Fat Recipe #2 - Cheesy Pockets
Gently warm a whole meal pitta for a minute or two to soften it, then stuff it with sun-dried tomatoes, tuna and fat-free cheese before returning to the oven for a few moments until the cheese has melted.
Low Fat Recipe #3 - Barbeque Chicken Pasta
Cook some brown pasta (enough to cover the palm of your hand) and when cooked add in some barbecue chicken, cooked onions and a touch of sweet chilli sauce and some fat-free mayonnaise, stir thoroughly and serve.
Low Fat Recipe #4 - Bacon And Eggs
Yes, you really can eat bacon and eggs - but with a twist.
Grill some turkey bacon whilst making scrambled eggs using just the egg whites.
Serve on brown toast with some brown sauce and black pepper - yummy!
Low Fat Recipe # 5 - Tune Wrap
Mix a can of tuna with chopped cucumber and tomato, add some fat-free salad dressing and roll up in a whole meal tortilla.
